LOS ANGELES - The UNLV baseball team fell to USC on Tuesday afternoon 7-2 at Dedeaux Field in Los Angeles. The loss is the third straight for the Rebels and drops their overall record to 10-6. The Trojans improve to 8-8 on the season.
Adam Lesko (0-1) picked up the loss for the Rebels. He gave up six runs off nine hits in 4.2 innings of work. He also struck out seven Trojans.
Giovanni Pupo pitched 1.2 solid innings. He gave up only one hit while striking out one. Jason Guerra faced three batters in the seventh inning without giving up a hit. Ryan Braun finished the final inning, giving up one run with a strikeout.
USC's Frasier Dizard (2-1) picked up the win. He gave up only one unearned run in seven innings of work.
Four Rebels finished the game a pair of hits. Eric Nielsen went 2-for-3, Patrick Dobson extended his consecutive game hitting-streak to 11 games with a 2-for-4 showing and Ryan Ruiz finished the game 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Andrew D'Angelo and Fernando Valenzuela added a single hit each.
USC was led by Jeff Clement, who finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
UNLV returns home this weekend for a three-game series with Memphis. Friday's game will begin at 6:30 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday action set for 1 p.m.
