Baseball Sweeps Memphis

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV baseball team completed the three-game sweep of Memphis with a 13-4 victory on Sunday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. With the win, the Rebels improve to 13-6 on the season, while the Tigers fall to 3-7.

Jake Vose (3-3) pitched six shutout innings, giving up only two hits and striking out nine. Adam Lesko and Ryan Braun each threw a hitless inning in relief. James Wickman gave up all four Tiger runs in 0.2 innings of work. Only two of the four runs were earned.

Memphis' Jarrett Grube (0-1) picked up the loss. He gave up three runs on four hits with one strikeout.

Patrick Dobson extended his hitting streak to 14 games. He went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. He hit a home run, a double and a pair of singles.

Eric Nielsen homered and finished the game 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Brent Johnson went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. He homered and stole a base.

Ryan Ruiz and Fernando Valenzuela each homered and finished the game 1-for-4.

Bill Moss drove in two runs for the Tigers. He finished the game 1-for-4 with a run scored.

UNLV travels to UC-Irvine for a Tuesday night matchup before starting conference play next weekend when they host Air Force for a three-game series.
