SALT LAKE CITY - The 21st ranked UNLV baseball team bounced back from Friday's 7-2 loss to defeat Utah 13-5 on Saturday at Franklin Covey Field. With the win, the Rebels improve to 28-11, 12-3 in Mountain West Conference play. The Utes fall to 17-18, 5-9 in league play.
Jake Vose (5-3) earned the win for the Rebels. He threw 7.0 innings, giving up one run on seven hits with seven strikeouts.
Jason Guerra struggled in a short appearance, giving up four runs on three hits in one-third inning of work. Ryan Braun finished the game, allowing only a single hit and striking out four.
Sean Overholt picked up the loss for the Utes. He gave up five runs off six hits in 3.0 innings.
Patrick Dobson led the Rebels, going 4-for-5 with one RBI and four runs scored. He extended his consecutive-game hitting streak to 11 games.
Stephen Ghutzman went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Eddie Gill, Brent Johnson and Garett Shitanishi contributed a pair of hits each. Gill finished the game 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored.
UNLV hosts Southern Utah on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. before traveling to Colorado Springs, Colo., for a three-game set with Air Force.
