RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The 21st ranked UNLV baseball team dropped a 9-4 decision to UC Riverside on Tuesday night at the Riverside Sports Complex. The Rebels snapped a five-game winning streak and fall to 26-10 on the season, while Highlanders improve to 24-10.
UNLV starter Adam Lesko (0-2) gave up four runs in the opening inning before being relieved by Giovanni Pupo, who threw 4.1 hitless innings with one strikeout. Shane Clatterbuck, Matt Wagner and Donnie Watts combined to finish the game.
UCR's Haley Winter (3-1) earned the win. He threw 2.2 innings, giving up only one hit with two strikeouts.
Eddie Gill got the Rebels on the board with a two run homer in the top of the sixth inning, He finished the game 1-for-3 at the plate.
Patrick Dobson went 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Garett Shitanishi finished the game 2-for-2 with one RBI. Joe Wickman doubled, finishing the game 2-for-4.
Brent Johnson, Eric Nielsen and Ryan Ruiz added a single hit each.
UNLV continues its four-game road swing with a series at Utah beginning on Thursday.
