STORYLINE: The UNLV Softball team (20-37, 4-14) heads to the Mountain West Conference Championship this week in San Diego, needing a tournament title to continue its 2003 season. The Rebels enter the tourney as the No. 6 seed and begin their title quest against No. 3 BYU (33-15, 11-8) in the event's first game at 9:00 a.m. Thursday. Should the Rebels defeat the Cougars, they would advance to the second round of the double-elimination tourney and face No. 2 Colorado State. A loss would send UNLV to an elimination game on Friday morning against an opponent to be determined.
