LAS VEGAS - Newcomers will report to the Lied Athletic Complex Monday as part of the opening of UNLV football's 2003 preseason camp, which is the earliest in school history.

After a day of meetings, photo sessions and physicals, the rookie Rebels will be joined the next day by the team's veterans and the entire squad begins practice Tuesday at 7 p.m. The traditional rookie practices have been eliminated per new NCAA rules. Also barred were two-a-day sessions on successive days during camp. In fact, the first of only five "double day" practices will not take place until Monday, Aug. 11.

Morning and evening sessions, which begin at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., respectively, last approximately two hours and are free and open to the public. All regular practices are scheduled to take place on the state-of-the-art Ernie Becker Sr. Practice Fields at Bill "Wildcat" Morris Rebel Park on campus.

UNLV's fall semester begins Monday, August 25 and the Rebels open the 2003 season by hosting Toledo on Friday, August 29 at 6 p.m. PDT at Sam Boyd Stadium. Season tickets are available now by calling 739-FANS.
