LAS VEGAS - Quarterback Kurt Nantkes turned in another stellar performance as UNLV played its second and final scrimmage of preseason camp Thursday at Ernie Becker Sr. Football Fields at Bill "Wildcat" Morris Park.
Nantkes hit 11-16 pass attempts for 150 yards, no interceptions and two touchdowns. The junior hit Steve Vaccaro for a 30-yard score and then found David Relf from nine yards out. Converted signal-caller Terry Furlow led all receivers with 45 yards on three catches.
Dyante Perkins led all rushers with 19 yards on just two carries, including a one-yard touchdown run for the only other score on the night.
The Rebel defense had four sacks and eight tackles for loss but no interceptions.
The team will hold a morning practice Friday before breaking camp. UNLV will have Saturday off before heading into a regular-season practice schedule. The Rebels open Friday, Aug. 29 by hosting Toledo at Sam Boyd Stadium at 6 p.m. Season and individual-game tickets are available by calling 739-FANS.
