Rebels Win Home Tournament

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's volleyball team defeated Cal State Fullerton 3-0 (30-19, 30-27, 33-31) in the championship game of the UNLV Invitational Tournament on Saturday night at the Cox Pavilion.

UNLV reached the championship game with a 3-1 (28-30, 30-25, 30-23, 30-23) win over Lamar University early in the day.

Juniors Tarin Keith and Michelle Johnson were named to the all-tournament team and senior Leiana Oswald was named MVP.

Oswald put up a season-high 24 kills against the Titans with a .404 (24-5-47) attack percentage. She also added five digs and five blocks in the match. She tallied 60 kills and 20 digs in the three matches.

Keith put up 10 kills against Cal State Fullerton. She also finished with seven digs, two assists and a block. Johnson knocked down eight blocks with four kills.

Four Rebels finished with double-digit kills against Lamar in the early game. Oswald finished with 19, Keith tallied 16, Johnson had 15 and Sheila Ocasio-Clemente had 13.

With a 2-1 record in the tournament, Cal State Fullerton finished second. Lamar defeated Morgan State for third-place in the consolation game. Lamar ended the tournament with a 1-2 record, while Morgan State went 0-3.
