COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV's InFini Robinson was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Sunday. This is the first career weekly honor for Robinson, and it marks the fifth time in the first nine weeks of the season a Lady Rebel has been named MWC Player of the Week. Robinson is the fourth UNLV player to earn MWC Player of the Week this season, marking the first time any team has produced four different award winners in one season since the formation of the league.
Robinson, a 5-7 senior guard from Detroit, Mich., scored a career-high 24 points while leading the Lady Rebels to a 76-58 win in their MWC conference opener over San Diego State on Jan. 17 in Las Vegas. She was a career-best six-of-seven from three-point range, and finished 7-of-11 from the floor for the game. The conference's leading free throw shooter, she was also four-of-four at the line, and added two rebounds and two assists.
She is fourth on the team in scoring this year at 8.9 points per game, ranks 10th in the MWC in assists per game with 2.86, and leads the conference in free throw percentage at 87.2 percent.
The Lady Rebels, 12-2 overall, 1-0 in the conference and riding a seven-game win streak, return to action on Thursday night as they host Colorado State at 7:30 pm in the Cox Pavilion.
