Lady Rebels, Rams Meet On Thursday

The Lady Rebels (12-2, 1-0) and Colorado State (10-5, 1-1) face off in a key matchup on Thursday night in the Cox Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. UNLV is looking for just its second ever 2-0 start in the Mountain West Conference, while the Rams hope to bounce back from a 55-51 loss to Utah in their last outing. UNLV has won the last three meetings in Las Vegas, while Colorado State is playing their first road game in over a month.

UNLV has the best overall record in the MWC at 12-2, is riding a league-high seven-game win streak, are 9-0 at home this year, and received one vote in this week's AP Top 25 Coaches' Poll. They are dominating the conference statistics, as a Lady Rebel leads the conference in seven of the 12 categories, including scoring, rebounding, steals, an 1 The Lady Rebels have been on a tear offensively, averaging 73.9 points per game, which leads the Mountain West Conference, and are a perfect 10-0 when they score 70 or more points. All but one of their 12 wins this year have been by 10 points or more, and their +14.6 winning margin is also top in the conference.

UNLV has also been very successful on the boards, leading the MWC with a +8.9 rebounding margin (13th in the nation), and also leads the conference in steals with 10.4 spg.

Junior transfer forward RanDee Henry is close to setting a career milestone, as she is two points away from reaching 1,000 points in her three-year career at Detroit Mercy and UNLV.

NOTE: On Saturday, the UNLV Athletics Department will host a free women's sports clinic on Saturday, January 24 from 3 - 6:30 p.m. as part of the National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration. The free clinic, sponsored by KLUC 98.5 FM, is for all kids ages 6-12 and will precede the UNLV women's basketball game vs. Wyoming at 7:30 p.m. at Cox Pavilion.

All kids will have a chance to visit athletic stations to learn valuable athletic skills run by student-athletes from UNLV's women's sports programs including softball, volleyball, soccer, golf, cheer, dance, tennis, track & field and cross country. All kids will also receive a special autograph book, bookmark and poster. Kids who pre-register will receive a free clinic T-shirt. The cost for those who do not pre-register is $5.

Kids are invited to stay after the clinic for the Lady Rebels game. All kids 12 and under are free to all UNLV women's basketball home games. Kids participating in the clinic will be recognized at halftime in a special on-court parade.

A Clinic Kids Concession Special will also be available to all kids wearing their clinic T-shirt to the game on Feb. 24. T-shirt wearing kids can purchase dinner for only $3.50 from the concession stand, which includes a hot dog, small soda, a small bag of popcorn and a treat. To pre-register call 895-0697.
