LAS VEGAS - The 2004 Rebels will square off against former teammates and baseball alums in the annual Alumni Game set for January 31. First pitch is slated for noon at UNLV's Earl E. Wilson Stadium and Roger Barnson Field.
"I am really looking forward to our players getting an opportunity to compete against our alumni," said UNLV head coach Buddy Gouldsmith. "It will be a chance for our team to try and prepare for our season and meet the former UNLV players that laid the foundation for their success."
Former Rebels scheduled to compete include T.J. Matthews, Mike Hubel, Patrick Dobson, Fernando Valenzuela Jr., Gary White, Robert VanKirk, Stephen Ghutzman, Robbie Van, Dave Maloff, Brad Maloff, Steve Goldberg, Tory Miran, Jonathon Jarolimek, Joe Marufi, David Trujillo, Ryan Olsen, Jason Reuss, Toby Hall, Dan Matson, Giovanni Pupo, Garett Shitanishi, Kevin Loftus and Jeremy Weinberg. Fred Dallimore, UNLV's head coach from 1974-1996, will coach the alumni squad.
Admission to the contest is free. Following the game, the Rebels invite you to head to the Thomas and Mack Center to watch the Runnin' Rebel basketball team take on the University of New Mexico at 6 p.m. During half time, the baseball team will be receiving rings for winning the 2003 Mountain West Conference Regular Season championship and post season tournament.
