Las Vegas (AP) - Jason Walberg scored a game-high 18 points to lead St. Mary's past UNLV 64-54 Tuesday night.
Walberg was 4-for-5 from 3-point range, all in the first half, and 6-of-7 from the field for the game.
Fredrick Adjiwanou had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Gaels (4-2), and Daniel Kickert had 7 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Louis Amundson and Odartey Blankson each had 12 points and eight rebounds for UNLV (0-1) in the debut of coach Lon Kruger. Amundson also had four steals and four blocks.
The Rebels went just 1-for-12 from 3-point range for 8 percent.
UNLV shot 22-for-64 for 34 percent from the field, while St. Mary's was 22-of-55 for 40 percent.
St. Mary's never trailed in the second half. The Rebels tied the game twice, the last at 48-48 with 6:23 to play, but the Gaels went on a 12-2 run to seal the win with 1:40 left.
The Gaels led for most of the first half after jumping to an 8-2 lead.
UNLV took its first and only lead at 24-22 with 5:57 until halftime.
St. Mary's took a 31-24 lead into halftime.
