UNLV's game at Detroit on Saturday begins a homecoming weekend for four Lady Rebels, as three are Detroit natives (RanDee Henry, Nejlah Clark, Latosha Pace), while Sheena Moore is from nearby Lansing. Following the game against the Titans, UNLV stays in the state to take on Michigan on Monday night in Ann Arbor. The two games marked UNLV's first ever in the state of Michigan.

Saturday's game also marks the first time that Henry faces her former team, as she played her first team years at UDM before transferring to UNLV, and was a All-Horizon League selection her sphomore year. In her first year as a Lady Rebel, she lead the league in scoring with 17.7 ppg while earning Mountain West Conference Newcomer of the Year honors.

UNLV, hit harder by injuries then any other team in the nation thus far in the season, is finally back to almost full strength, as junior forward Nikki Hitchens (MCL) to the lineup for the first time in the Lady Rebel Shootout, while Amy Loftus and Clark both returned after missing the UCF game with injuries as well. The Lady Rebels are still without the services of preseason All-MWC senior forward Sherry McCracklin (right Achilles), out since October.

With the return of Hitchens to the lineup, UNLV looked more like the team that led the MWC in scoring last year at 70.0 ppg, as the Lady Rebels scored more then 66 points for the first time this year in both games of the Lady Rebel Shootout (79 against Texas-Arlington, 76 against North Carolina).
