LAS VEGAS - UNLV second baseman Ryan Ruiz was tabbed the Mountain West Conferences Player of the week Monday afternoon. Ruiz, from Las Vegas, Nev. (Silverado HS), was 8-13(.615) with a pair of home runs, seven runs scored and seven RBI in a three-game sweep vs. Western Kentucky. He was also error-free with eight assists from the second base position.

This is Ruiz's first MWC selection, and the first for UNLV this season. San Diego State senior righthander Chris Hartshorn was named MWC pitcher of the week after a complete-game victory over Santa Clara.

The Rebels will be back in action beginning Friday, February 20th at 6:30 p.m., where they will take on intrastate rival Nevada, Reno.
