OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - As the competition concluded at the Mountain West Conference Championships in Oklahoma City, both UNLV's men's and women's swimming teams captured third place. BYU captured its fifth straight Mountain West Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. The men's team finished with 775.50 points, followed by Air Force (612.50), UNLV (606), Utah (583) and Wyoming (505). The women tallied 725 points, besting second-place Colorado State (607.50). UNLV finished third in women's action with 578 points, followed by Utah (499), New Mexico (376), Wyoming (326), Air Force (295) and San Diego State (231.50).

Individually, sophomore Adam Martinson captured first place in the men's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:47.91, ahead of Utah's Andrew Cole (1:48.90) and Air Force's Paul Brehm (1:48.51). Junior Patrick Adams finished third in the men's 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:01.44 while the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Jonathan Hugo, Joe Bartoch, Brandon Nelms and John Byers also took third-place with a time of 2:59.52.

For the women, sophomore Jessie Bradshaw took first-place in the women's 100-yard freestyle event with a time of 51.09. Julie Unrau took third in the women's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.99 while Alyson Noble placed second in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:48.90. Also, the team of Lauren Browning, Katie Wronn, Alyson Noble and Jessie Bradshaw took third-place in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:26.40.

Wyoming's Scott Usher and Colorado State's Kristen Schneider were named the Mountain West Conference's men's and women's swimmer of the year. UNLV senior Kevin Williams was honored with the MWC's Senior Recognition Award while BYU's Stan Crump and Keith Russell were named swimming and diving coaches of the year.
