LAS VEGAS (AP) - Odartey Blankson had 19 points and 13 rebounds Saturday night, and James Peters added 16 in leading UNLV to a season high in points and a 94-79 victory over Colorado State.
UNLV led by as many as 16 in the first half, but Colorado State rode the hot hand of sophomore forward Freddy Robinson to rally within five, 58-53, with 10:29 to play.
Following a time-out, the Rebels went on a 15-4 run,highlighted by consecutive 3-pointers from Romel Beck to seal the win.
Robinson, whose previous season high was a 16-point effort against Air Force, had a game-high 31points and made four of nine 3-pointers.
The Rebels (14-9, 5-5 Mountain West Conference), playing their second game under interim head coach Jay Spoonhour, shot 58 percent from the field and connected on 26 of 36 from the foul line.
Spoonhour's father, Charlie, stepped down Feb. 17, citing health reasons.
UNLV jumped out to an 18-7 advantage early in the first half, holding Colorado State (11-13, 3-8) to 2-of-11 shooting in the game's first nine minutes.
J.K. Edwards also had 16 for the Rebels, while Beck and Jerel Blassingame added 14 apiece.
Matt Nelson scored 13 for Colorado State with 6-of-9 shooting from the field.
