LAS VEGAS - UNLV will return home to Las Vegas after a midweek loss to No. 30 UC Irvine on Tuesday night to take on the Spartans of Michigan State.
Ryan Ruiz continues to lead the Rebel offense, batting .455 with 2 home runs and 14RBI. First baseman Eddie Gill is hitting at the .400 mark, while he and right fielder Eric Nielsen (.381) come into this weekend's series with 9 game hitting streaks.
On the mound, the Rebels are anchored by starters Matt Luca and Jake Vose. Luca leads the team in strikeouts with 17, while Vose was named the Mountain West Conference's pitcher of the week after keeping Nevada, Reno scoreless in his seven inning appearance last weekend. Freshman lefthander Koji Pupo will get his second start of the season on Sunday.
