LAS VEGAS - UNLV (0-0, 0-0 MWC) heads to Southern California to open its season against No. 4 Cal State Fullerton. The Rebels are coming off of a successful 2003 season where they claimed both the Mountain West Conference regular season, and tournament championships. The Rebels finished the 2003 season with an overall record of 47-17 and their first NCAA Regional appearance since 1996.

This season, the Rebels are skippered by first-year head coach Buddy Gouldsmith, who is the sixth coach in program history.
