FULLERTON, Calif. - The UNLV baseball team couldn't find the answer for No. 4 Cal State Fullerton's offense, as the Titans (2-3) cruised to a 13-1 victory over the Rebels (0-2).
After losing in the 11th inning just eighteen hours earlier, the Rebels couldn't muster up enough offense to keep pace with the potent Titans. The Rebels kept the game close through five and one-half innings, before the Titan scoring machine came alive, scoring eleven runs in a two-inning span.
Rebel starter Jake Vose (0-1) gave up six runs off of five hits in five and two-thirds innings of work. The pitching struggles continued as Shane Clatterbuck allowed five runs off of four hits, in only two-thirds of an inning.
For the Titans, starting pitcher Ricky Romero (1-1) was impressive on the mound, allowing only one run off of four hits in seven innings on the mound. Offensively, Shawn Scobee was 2-4 with 4 RBIs and a home run.
The Rebels were held to just four hits in the game, with Eric Nielsen, Eddie Gill, Ty Soto, and Peter White each getting a single.
The two teams will play the series finale at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
