Lady Rebels Set For Sun Devils

LAS VEGAS - The Lady Rebels reach the postseason for the fourth straight year, and will play in the WNIT for the third time in the last four seasons as they host Arizona State on Thursday night in the Cox Pavilion. This is the first time UNLV has hosted a WNIT game, they were on the road the past two touranments. UNLV is one of three Mountain West teams in the postseason, and one of two in the WNIT, along with Colorado State.

UNLV brings a 22-7 record into the WNIT, and are tied with South Alabama for the most wins among the 32-teams in the tournament. The 22 victories marked the second time in the last 12 years the Lady Rebels reached 20 wins in a season.

The Lady Rebels have won off their offense, averaging a MWC-high 71.3 ppg and 44.5% shooting from the floor. They are 15-0 when they score 70 or more points this season. UNLV is also one of the top rebounding teams in the nation, ranked eighth in rebounding margin at +8.4.

Thursday's opponent, Arizona State, was also UNLV's opponent in the school's first-ever women's basketball game, as the Lady Rebels won 69-33 in Las Vegas to begin the 1974-75 inaugural season. The Sun Devils have posted wins over two ranked teams this season, including a 73-53 win over #7 Stanford, but have lost five of their last seven games, and their top scorer to an ACL injury.
