Rebels Shut Out Mustangs

BOISE, Idaho -- The UNLV men's tennis team opened play at the Boise State Invitational by defeating Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 7-0 Thursday. It marked UNLV's third straight victory.

The Rebels improved to 8-4 overall by winning their first match away from home this year, while the Mustangs dropped to 10-7.

UNLV started the day by taking two out of the three doubles matches for one team point.

In singles play for the Rebels, 77th-ranked Henner Nehles won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 1 position. Romain Massaro playing in the No. 2 spot for UNLV defeated his opponent 6-4, 6-3. Avi Salomon at No. 3, Joel Kielbowicz at No. 4 and David DiMartino at the No. 5 position all won in straight sets. Marko Blajogevic played at the No. 6 spot and won in three sets 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

The Rebels move into the winner's bracket and will continue play on Friday. The tournament concludes Saturday.
