Seccombe Tops In MWC

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - David Seccombe was named the Mountain West Conference's pitcher of the week on Monday afternoon.

Seccombe needed just 73 pitches to take care of the Air Force Falcons on Sunday afternoon. The senior righthander from Las Vegas, NV (Cimmaron Memorial HS) allowed just two hits (both singles) while keeping the Falcons scoreless through seven innings. Seccombe stuck out 8 of the 21 Air Force batters he faced, including the first three, while walking only one en route to his third victory of the season. Seccombe is currently thrid in the MWC with 44 strikeouts.

This is the first honor for Seccombe who came to the Rebels after transfering from the University of San Franciso.

San Diego State's Brock Ungricht was named the conference's Player of the Week. Ungricht, from San Diego, Calif. (Mission Bay HS), helped the Aztecs take two of three games from New Mexico last week and remain in second place in the MWC standings after hitting .643 with eight RBI. In game one, Ungricht hit his third double of the year and scored a run in a 4-3 victory. Although SDSU lost game two, Ungricht was 3-for-4 with five RBI and a run scored. In game three, he was 5-for-6 with three RBI, including a two-run triple in the ninth inning, as the Aztecs posted an 11-9 victory to close out the series. Ungricht is tied for second in the MWC with 44 hits on the year.
