LAS VEGAS - The UNLV baseball team (22-13, 9-3 MWC) will look to rebound after a pair of midweek losses to the University of Arizona as they resume Mountain West Conference play with a three-game series at the University of Utah (10-19, 3-7 MWC) this weekend.
The game times for this weekend's series will be: Friday at 5:00 p.m., Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday's games will be broadcast live on KSHP AM 1400 while all three games will be available via Internet gametracker at www.unlvrebels.com.
The Rebels continue to be led by senior shortstop Peter White who is hitting .403 with 31 RBI and 6 home runs. Senior center fielder Brent Johnson, who broke the school's all-time hits record last weekend, has consistantly produced, with 46 runs batten in on the season. First baseman Eddie Gill and designated hitter/catcher C.J. Ebarb have also been hitting the ball well as of late.
On the mound, UNLV's starting rotation triumvirate of Matt Luca, Jake Vose and David Seccombe have combined for eight of the team's nine conference wins. Vose leads all Rebel starters with a 4.60 ERA, while Luca leads the conference in strikeouts, with 30.
Utah has won their last three games, including a conference victory against New Mexico and a double header sweep of Albertson College.
Center fielder Matt Ciaramella is hitting .355 with 26 RBI and 6 home runs on the season. Designated hitter Tyson Olson is hitting .241 with 22 RBI and 4 homers, while shortstop Ryan Khoury is hitting .313 with 17 RBI and four home runs.
Righthander Ben Buck was named the Mountan West Conference's pitcher of the week last week after throwing a six-hit, two-run victory over conference foe New Mexico. Lefthander Jason Price leads the club in strikeouts, with 54 on the season.
The Rebels will return home to Las Vegas to host UC Riverside on Tuesday April 20, before resuming MWC play on April 23-25 as they host New Mexico for a three game series.
