COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Senior right-hander David Seccombe (Las Vegas, NV/Cimmaron Memorial HS) was named the Mountain West Confrence's pitcher of the week on Monday afternoon. Seccombe continued to be stellar on the mound, as he struck out ten New Mexico batters en route to his sixth win of the season on Friday night during the Rebels 5-4 victory over the Lobos.
Seccombe allowed just two earned runs off of six hits while walking just one batter in seven and one-third innings on the mound, keeping the Lobos off of the scoreboard in six of the seven innings he pitched. Seccombe, who did not allow an extra-base hit, struck out a batter in each of the first seven innings, including striking out the side in the sixth.
This is Seccombe's second MWC honor this season, as he was named the MWC's Pitcher of the Week on March 29th.
Utah junior outfielder Matt Ciaramella (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline HS)was named the MWC's Player of the Week. Ciaramella helped the Utes take 2-of-3 games at San Diego State last week as he belted five doubles and a home run vs. the Aztecs. For the week, he hit .438 (7-for-16) with eight RBI, five runs scored, five doubles and two home runs.
