LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior outfielder Bridget Byrne has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-Distirct VIII team, it was announced Monday.

Byrne, of Las Vegas, has a cumulative 3.66 GPA and will earn bachelor's degrees in both Spanish and international business next year.

She also leads the Rebels in a number of offensive categories, including hits, runs, batting average and stolen bases. She ranks second in the Mountain West Conference with a .379 average and leads the league with 72 hits.

With her selection to the All-District VIII team, Byrne advances to the national ballot, which will be announced on June 3.
