LAS VEGAS - Joel Anthony, a 6-9 sophomore center from Pensacola (Fla.) Junior College, has signed a national letter of intent to enroll at UNLV and play basketball for the Runnin' Rebels this fall, head coach Lon Kruger announced Thursday.
Anthony averaged nine points, seven rebounds and 3.5 blocks for Pensacola this past season. PJC was 19-13 overall.
"Joel is a big athlete who will provide us with a big presence on the inside," Kruger said. "He is a great shot blocker and is a guy who affects the game, especially on the defensive end."
Anthony, a native of Montreal, Canada, attended Dawson High School.
Anthony is the third signing of the spring period for UNLV and joins Ricky Morgan, Dustin Villepigue and Wilbur Williams (signed in November) as incoming players for the Runnin' Rebels.
