Assistant Coach Leaves For East Coast

June 16, 2004

LAS VEGAS - Cherie Hogg, a two-year assistant coach for the UNLV women's basketball team, has resigned to take a similar position at Hofstra.

Hogg, a former standout player for the Lady Rebels, spent the past two seasons as assistant coach under Regina Miller for a UNLV team that went a combined 43-20 over her two years on the staff, including a run to the 2004 WNIT championship game.

"Cherie was a key member of our staff the past two seasons, and was a part of the success we enjoyed over those two years", said Miller. "We wish her well as she pursues her goals in the coaching profession."

During her two year playing career at UNLV, she earned All-Big West honors twice while leading the Lady Rebels to the 1994 NCAA Tournament. She still holds schools records for most steals in a season (129) and best three-point percentage (45.6%).
