TUCSON, ARIZ. - UNLV junior right fielder Eric Nielsen was named to the 2004 Louisville Slugger All-American team as selected by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Nielsen, who was also selected as the Mountain West Conference's Player of the Year, led the MWC with a .410 batting average while also driving in 86 RBI and knocking out 16 homers. Nielsen also set the UNLV single season record with 100 hits in 244 at bats.

Nielsen is the sixth Rebel to be selected first team All-American, joining Dan Murphy (1980), Randy Ward (1980), Matt Williams (1986), Kevin Lofthus (1989 and Donovan Osborne (1988-90).
