VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The UNLV men's basketball team defeated the University of British Columbia 89-71 in its second exhibition game of the day on Sunday. Earlier, UNLV beat University College of the Fraser Valley 103-62. In the game against UBC, UNLV led by only four at halftime, 39-35, before using a 61.3 percent shooting effort in the second half to outscore British Columbia 50-36 over the final 20 minutes. UNLV held UBC to 39.3 percent shooting for the game and allowed only a 34.4 percent effort in the second half. Four Runnin' Rebels scored in double figures as Jerel Blassingame scored a team-high 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting and recorded six assists. Dustin Villepigue added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Louis Amundson scored 11 points and Wilbur Williams had 10 with eight rebounds. UBC's Casey Archibald led all scorers with 28 points and Ryder McKeown grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Mark Tasic was UBC's only other double-figure scorer with 11 points. UNLV will conclude its foreign exhibition tour in the Vancouver area with a 12 p.m. game against Langara College on Monday.
