LAS VEGAS - Two-time UNLV football All-American Jamaal Brimmer is scheduled to become only the third Rebel to ever play in the Senior Bowl when he takes the field this Saturday in Mobile, Ala.
The 56th annual game, which will take place at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, is set to kick off at 1 p.m. PST and be shown live by ESPN2.
Brimmer will suit up for the North Team, which is being coached by the staff of the NFL's Oakland Raiders. He will be joined by a pair of fellow-Mountain West Conference alumni: San Diego State linebacker Kirk Morrison and Colorado State tight end Joel Dreessen.
A two-time consensus MWC Defensive Player of the Year, Brimmer turned down earlier invitations to play in the East-West Shrine Game and the Hula Bowl to concentrate on the Senior Bowl. The first two UNLV players to compete in what is the most prestigious of postseason all-star games were former national rushing champion Ickey Woods after the 1987 season and current Buffalo Bills defensive back Kevin Thomas following the 2001 campaign.
Brimmer's appearance will wrap up an impressive postseason for UNLV football as at least one former Rebel played in five all-star games across the nation over the last few weeks. That contingent included running back Dominique Dorsey, who impressed scouts at both The Villages Gridiron Classic and the Hula Bowl.
