LAS VEGAS - UNLV's RanDee Henry was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Lady Rebels to a pair of wins last week, the conference announced on Monday. It is the second weekly honor of the season for Henry, and the fourth in her two-year career at UNLV.
Henry, a 6-2 senior forward from Detroit, Mich., came up big in UNLV's 63-60 upset of first place New Mexico in Las Vegas on Jan. 27. Limited by foul trouble in the first half, she came back and scored 13 second-half points and finished with 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Against Air Force on Jan. 29, Henry was 8-of-11 from the floor for 19 points and posted seven rebounds in just 24 minutes of action.
For the week, she averaged 18 points, 6.5 rebounds, three assists, and shot 62.5% (15-of-24) from the floor. She is currently fifth in the MWC in scoring (15.2 ppg) and third in rebounding (8.9 rpg).
UNLV (11-8, 2-3 MWC) concludes the first half of the conference season with a two-game road trip, beginning with a Thursday night contest at Utah at 6 pm (PST), in a game televised by CSTV.
