UNLV Series With LSU Canceled

Oct. 14, 2005

LAS VEGAS - UNLV baseball's scheduled three-game series with LSU, which was set for Feb. 24-26 at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, has been canceled due to the still lingering affects of Hurricane Katrina on the Tigers' program, head coach Buddy Gouldsmith announced Friday.

Eastern Michigan is now scheduled to travel to Las Vegas to play those three games, with the dates and game times remaining the same.

Because the Tigers were forced to make budget cuts following Hurricane Katrina, the team decided against making the trip from Baton Rouge, LA., to Las Vegas.

"It is obviously unfortunate that they had to cancel. We were really looking forward to hosting a team with such a rich history of baseball as LSU has," Gouldsmith said. "We sympathize with their situation."

EMU finished last season with an overall record of 22-34, including an 8-14 record in the Mid-American Conference.
