PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - UNLV's Elena Gantcheva could not hold a second-set lead en route to losing in the first round of the main draw at the 2005 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Tennis Championships on Thursday.
Gantcheva, ranked 24th nationally dropped the first set 6-1 to 21st-ranked Helena Besovic of TCU and then surrendered a 4-1 lead in the second to fall 6-1, 7-6.
Gantcheva (5-2) will get a chance at picking up another ranked win when she plays in the first round of consolation play on Friday morning.
