Sokolvak, Doubles Move On In Utah

PROVO, Utah (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV junior Sofiia Sokolvak won again on Thursday to advance in singles on the third day of the 2026 ITA Mountain Region Women's Tennis Championship on the campuses of BYU and Utah.

Representatives from 20 schools are on hand for the event, which runs through Saturday. Inclement weather has pushed all early action indoors and to alternate sites.

Sokolvak won her fourth straight match at this event by getting by Defne Aydemir of UNR, 6-1, 7-6 (4), and moving into the Round of 16.

In doubles, top-seeded NIkol Mircheva and Hudson Hawkins won twice to earn a spot in the quarterfinals. The pair downed Bella Lewis and Sage Bergeson of BYU, 8-6, and then used a tiebreaker to get by Viance Corley and Vivica Corley of New Mexico, 8-7 (6) to advance.
