Rebels To Close Out Fall With Home Tourney

Nov. 1, 2005

LAS VEGAS - Select players from an impressive list of seven schools will be on campus this weekend to take part in the UNLV Men's Tennis Fall Classic at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Friday through Sunday.

Joining the Rebels in the individual tournament will be competitors from Illinois, Oklahoma, Alabama, Tennessee, Fresno State and East Tennessee State.

Featuring two 16-spot flights of singles and one 16-team doubles draw, the tournament will have four rounds of each, plus singles consolation play. All matches are free and open to the public.

At least six nationally ranked singles players are expected to compete, including UNLV's top entry, 85th-ranked senior Joel Kielbowicz. The Las Vegas native won last year's Flight One championship, 6-7, 6-1, 6-1 over ETSU's Oscar Posado, who also returns to this year's field as the top seed and ranked 34th. Other ranked players expected to be on hand are No. 98 Jakub Cech of Fresno State, No. 107 Ruben Gonzales of Illinois, No. 109 Bobby Cameron of Tennessee and No. 125 Tommy Garrison of Oklahoma.
