UNLV vs. Colorado State Quotes
UNLV Head Coach Mike Sanford
On Colorado State scoring the last 14 points of the game: "It was a very emotional game. It was emotionally disappointing in a lot of ways because we had a chance to win the game. If I remember right we were up 27-17 and we should have put them away and I talked to the team (after the game) about putting them away and we did not."
"We did not respond the way you have to respond and we did not get it done."
On the last game of UNLV's seniors: "It was emotional in the lockerroom because we lost a game we should have won and because of the seniors. I am going to miss those guys and it is the last moment for them as college football players. They are a part of our team and I am going to miss them tremendously.
On running the football: "We did what we wanted to do as far as running the football. We started this game and we knew we had to run the football.
"When defenses have to defend the quarterback running it opens up everything in your run game and in your passing game. The fact that Shane ran the ball today with some success, scrambled with some success was definitely a positive factor."
On UNLV's play in the fourth quarter: "They made some adjustments, we adjusted to what they adjusted to but we did not execute at the end of the game to the level that we have to execute."
On what needs to be done in the off-season: "Going through the season I know what we need to do in this program in the off-season to get better. We learned a lot about our football team during this season and there are a lot of things I know about that we have to correct."
Colorado State head coach Sonny Lubick
"All the games we play are close ones, as you can see. We always play hard and never give up."
On the punt return: "We got a break on the return. We played well on offense and defense. We knew it would be tough with this being their (UNLV's) last ball game."
On the QB change: "We talked all week about it. We needed a spark, which he (Caleb Hanie) did. It was a good move."
On putting Justin Holland back in for the final drive: "We felt that since Justin had been in there all year. We needed a few plays and knew his routine. We liked to go with what got us here."
"I thought Justin played well and made some big third and fives for us. Our receivers made some big catches for us."
