UNLV vs. BYU QuotesNov. 5, 2005
UNLV Head Coach Mike Sanford
ON THE GAME First of all I am very disappointed and very frustrated and upset. I felt like we were competing in the game until the second interception. I don't know what exactly happened but we did not compete like we have to compete in this program.
ON THE THREE INTERCEPTIONS We turned the ball over too much. We had three interceptions and two were back-to-back, if I remember right, that led directly to touchdowns.
I felt like we were in the game until we threw those two interceptions and got behind and then guys started going down like crazy.
ON UNLV'S RUNNING ATTACK They did a good job defending the run and we didn't run the ball well. We threw a lot of passes, threw way too many passes and had way too many sacks.
DEALING WITH INJURIES We had a lot of guys injured. I had originally expected and hoped that we would have a lot of people back for this game. I think some did come back but they weren't completely back.
ON HIS TEAM COMPETING I just don't think we competed as hard as my expectation of what we got to do to be successful in this program and to take this thing were I want to take it. The expectation level I have is way higher than what happened today. We have to compete and be tough. I am not saying it is everybody but I also think we got to be better.
ON THE REST OF THE SEASON The only thing we are going to look forward to is tomorrow and looking at the tape and on Monday starting on the next opponent and doing everything possible to beat TCU.
We have to stay the course and keep correcting, keep making it unpleasant to make mistakes and have stupid penalties.
