IN THE BATTER'S BOX: UNLV remains at home this weekend, hosting No. 3 Cal State Fullerton for a three-game set at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The first game of the series is Friday, Feb. 25, at 6:30 p.m. (PST). The three games at home is part of a stretch of nine home games in 10 outings.

LAST TIME OUT: The Rebels dropped three games at home to in-state rival Nevada, Reno, which extended UNLV's losing streak to a season-high six games. The three-game series was originally scheduled to be at UNR, but poor weather in Reno forced the games to be moved down to Las Vegas. Rain in Las Vegas cancelled Friday's game, but the two teams played a double-header Saturday and wrapped up the series Sunday. In the series opener, UNLV lost 12-10 and then followed that with a 10-3 loss in the night cap. Sunday the Wolfpack completed the sweep with a 6-4 win.

ON DECK: UNLV plays four games next week, traveling to UC Irvine for a game on March 1 at 6:00 p.m. (PST) before hosting Florida Atlantic for three games beginning March 4 at 6:30 p.m.

UNLV REBELS (1-8, 0-0 MWC): Sophomore catcher Justin Tellam hit UNLV's first two home runs of 2005 last weekend, hitting two solo shots. Albert Zerega leads the team in batting average with a .364 clip in 11 at-bats. Senior shortstop Zeke Parraz is UNLV's main threat at the plate with a .341 average, three doubles, seven RBI and 17 total bases. Willie Bowman leads the team with four extra-base hits, all doubles. On the mound Matt Luca has had some tough luck, as the right hander sports a solid 3.38 ERA, but is 0-2 on the season. Alex Kringen has been tough out of the bullpen, giving up just two earned runs in eight innings of work.

CAL STATE FULLERTON (5-1, 0-0 BIG WEST): Cal State Fullerton comes to Las Vegas looking for dry weather, as the Titans had a three-game series against Southern California rained out. CSF is currently riding a three-game winning streak with two wins over Fresno State and a victory over Loyola Marymount. During that stretch the Titans had outscored their opponents 31-3. The Titans' only loss in 2005 came at home against No. 11 Stanford 15-10. Ronnie Prettyman leads the Titans at the plate with a .429 batting average (9-21) with two doubles a home run and five RBI. Four other Titans are hitting above .300 and Sergio Pedroza leads CSF with three home runs. On the mound left-handed Ricky Romero is 2-0 in two starts with a 1.38 ERA and leads the team in strikeouts with 14. Ryan Schreppel is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA and 13 strikeouts in his two starts in 2005.
