IN THE BATTER'S BOX: UNLV plays four games this week, the first of seven such weeks where the Rebels will play more than just a three-game weekend series. The Rebels begin the week Tuesday against UC Irvine in Irvine, Calif., at 6:00 p.m. (PST). UNLV then returns home for a three-game series with Florida Atlantic, with the first game on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT: The Rebels lost two of three home games last weekend against No. 6 Cal State Fullerton, the defending NCAA Champions. UNLV picked up its win in the first game of the series in dramatic fashion, scoring twice with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to win 6-5. Sophomore first baseman Chris Bonnell was the hero of that game, driving in Matt Fry with a game-winning single. It was the first game-winning it for Bonnell in a Rebel uniform. The win snapped a six-game Rebels losing streak. CSF then took the next two from UNLV, 10-4 and 8-0. UNLV took a 4-3 lead into the sixth inning last Saturday against the Titans, but the Rebels' bullpen couldn't hold the lead. Sunday's shutout broke a streak of 86 games in which the Rebels had scored at least a run.

ON DECK: UNLV travels to the Golden State for a three-game series against California from March 11-13 at Berkeley, Calif.

UNLV REBELS (2-10, 0-0 MWC): Leading the Rebels in hitting is senior shortstop Zeke Parraz, who has a .308 average (16-52) through 12 games. Parraz also leads the team with eight RBI and is tied with Willie Bowman for the team lead in doubles with three. Sophomore catcher Justin Tellam has UNLV's only two home runs this year, two solo shots. CJ Lang has stolen three bases in three attempts to lead the Rebels. Kyle Tabeek and Eric Brock each have a win on the hill for the Rebels. Junior starter Matt Luca has team-highs of 13 strikeouts and 22.0 innings pitched. Wayne Foltin and Alex Chalfant have been busy coming out of the bullpen, as each have six appearances.
