UNLV closes out the first half of the MWC season with its fifth conference road game of the year on Saturday at BYU in Provo, Utah at 2 pm (PST). The Lady Rebels are looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss on Thursday night at Utah, where they led the first place Utes by five late before giving up a 16-3 run to end the game, falling 63-55. They are also looking for their first conference road win of the year, after beginning the year with losses at San Diego State, Wyoming, and Colorado State, before returning home to post victories over both New Mexico and Air Force.
One thing in UNLV's favor is its recent history over the Cougars, as they swept all three meetings between the schools last year, including their first win in Provo since 1975, and a win over BYU in the 2004 MWC quarterfinals.
Though the Lady Rebels shot just 37 percent against the Utes on Thursday, they still lead the conference in both field goal percentage (43.5%) and in scoring offense (69.8 ppg), but have scored over 70 points over just one conference opponent this year, a 76-51 win over Air Force.
Saturday's game is the second of two straight on TV for UNLV, as its being broadcast live by BYU-TV. Two more regular season games will feature the Lady Rebels, UNLV's game at New Mexico on Feb. 26, and their Senior Day game against the Utes in Las Vegas on March 5.
Junior guard Sheena Moore became the 14th Lady Rebel to score 1,000 points at UNLV in the game at Utah, as she scored a team-high 11 points and stands at 1,000 points exactly.
