HUMBLE, Texas - The UNLV men's golf team shot a second-round 12-under par 276 at the Hall of Fame Invitational on Saturday at Redstone Golf Club (par 72, 7,352 yards), but still sits in second place, one shot back of team-leader Oklahoma State, which shot a tournament-record 18-under 270 to take a one-shot lead.
UNLV's 276 on Saturday would have been a tournament record had it not been for OSU's (292-270--562, -14) score.
TCU (285-289--574, -2) and New Mexico (292-282--574, -2) are tied for third, 11 shots behind UNLV (287-276--563, -13). Texas (298-282--580, +4) rounds out the top five.
UNLV's Ryan Moore (70-68--138, -6) shot a second-round 4-under 68 to move into the top individual spot on Saturday and leads Pablo Martin (70-69--139, -5) and Zack Robinson (72-67--139, -5), both from Oklahoma State, by one shot.
New Mexico's Charlie Beljan (69-71--140, -4) and Oklahoma State's Tyler Leon (76-64--140, -4) are tied for fourth, two shots back of Moore, heading into Sunday's final round. Leon's second-round 8-under 64 was an individual tournament record for low round.
Andres Gonzales (74-67--141, -3) is the only other Rebel in the top 10 as he is in a three-way tie for sixth place after shooting a 5-under 67 on Saturday.
Other Rebel players: Sam Hunt (70-73--143, -1; T14th), Travis Whisman (73-72--145, +1; T23rd) and Ryan Keeney (81-69--150, +6; T54th).
