Rebels In Fourth Place After Day One

SUNRIVER, Ore. - The UNLV men's golf team shot an opening-round six-over-par 294 at the Mountain West Conference Championship on Thursday at the Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort (par 72, 7,568 yards) and sits in fourth place, nine shots back of team-leader New Mexico, which was the only team under par (3-under 285).

BYU and San Diego State are both tied for second at 4-over 292, seven shots off the lead. Colorado State follows UNLV in fifth place at 9-over 297, followed by Utah and Wyoming, who are tied for sixth at 12-over 300. Air Force occupies the eighth spot at 24-over 312.

New Mexico's Spencer Levin is the individual leader at 3-under 69 and he is followed by teammate Jay Choi, who shot 2-under 70 and is all alone in second place, one shot back.

UNLV's Andres Gonzales and Ryan Keeney each shot 1-over 73 and are tied for 11th place to lead the Rebels.

Other Rebel players were Ryan Moore (74, +2; T16th), Travis Whisman (74, +2; T16th) and Jarred Texter (76, +4; T24th).

Play continues with 18 holes on Friday and concludes with 18 on Saturday.
