SUNRIVER, Ore. - The UNLV men's golf team shot a second-round 1-under-par 287 on Friday at the Mountain West Conference Championship at the Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort (par 72, 7,568 yards) and moved into third place, 11 shots behind team-leader New Mexico, which held onto the lead after shooting a second-round 3-under.
New Mexico (285-285--570, -6) leads the tournament by four shots over BYU (292-282-574, -2). UNLV (294-287--581, +5) is four shots ahead of San Diego State (292-293--585, +9), which is in fourth place and Colorado State (297-292--589, +13) rounds out the top five.
Individually, New Mexico's Spencer Levin (69-70--139, -5) remains the individual leader after shooting a second-round 2-under 70 and has a 36-hole total of 5-under 139. BYU's Nick Becker (71-69--140, -4) is in second place one shot back.
UNLV's Ryan Moore (74-70--144, E) shot 2-under 70 during the second round and moved into a tie for seventh place to lead the Rebels. Ryan Keeney (73-72--145, +1) is the other Rebel player in the top 10 as he is tied for ninth.
Other Rebel players were Jarred Texter (76-70--146, +2; T14th), Andres Gonzales (73-76--149, +5; T20th) and Travis Whisman (74-75--149, +5; T20th).
Play concludes with 18 holes on Saturday.
