PROVO, Utah - The showdown between the top two teams in the Mountain West Conference was delayed a day as rain cancelled Thursday night's game between UNLV and BYU. The Rebels lead the MWC with a 19-5 record, 25-24 overall, two games ahead of the Cougars who are 17-7 in league play, 33-15-1 overall.
The game will be made up Friday as part of a doubleheader with the first game starting at 2:00 p.m. (PT).
The weather appeared to be good until just 15 minutes before game time when a hard rain began. With the weather forecast for Friday looking much better and more rain looming, the two coaches decided to postpone the game.
Matt Luca (3-6) will start the first game Friday for the Rebels and Koji Pupo (4-0) will take the mound for UNLV in the second game.
