SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - UNLV baseball, winners of the last two Mountain West Conference Tournament Championships, will play Utah in the second round of the MWC Tournament on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. (PT) at Franklin Covey Field. It will be the Rebels first game of the tournament as they had a first round bye and did not play Wednesday.
The No. 5 seed Utes upset No. 4 New Mexico 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon to earn the right to play the top-seeded Rebels.
In the other semifinal game No. 2 seed BYU will play third-seeded San Diego State, which beat No. 6 seed Air Force 21-6 in the first game of the tournament Wednesday afternoon.
UNLV wrapped up its regular season with a three-game sweep of Utah last weekend and overall they took five of the six meetings between the two teams this year. The Rebels finished 30-26 this year, 23-7 in the MWC. Utah is now 19-32 overall, 10-20 in league play.
