LAS VEGAS - UNLV baseball will host a series of camps in July and August at Earl E. Wilson Stadium and will be directed by the staff of the three-time Mountain West Conference champions, including 2005 MWC Coach of the Year Buddy Gouldsmith.
The first camp will be the Summer Skills Day Camp on July 11-14 from 10:00 a.m. (PDT) to 3:00 p.m. The camp will focus on instruction in all phases of the game of baseball and is open to high school players from grades 9-12. Fundamentals of hitting, catching, throwing, base running, team offense and team defense will be stressed. This session will include position play and station work. Campers will get a chance to participate in team drills and camp games. Cost of the camp is $200.00.
The next camp in July is the Summer All-Star Camp on July 17-20 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is open to high school players from grades 9-12. This camp is created specifically for players who want to showcase their skills in front of the UNLV coaching staff. Campers will have an opportunity to receive instruction in all phases of the game as well as compete in live game competition. Cost of the camp is $350.00.
UNLV will then host Elite Hitting and Position Camps from August 15-16 and campers can chose to attend either session or both. The hitting camp will stress the proper mechanics, drill work, mental approach and fundamentals necessary to become a better hitter. In the position camp, proper mechanics, drill work, mental approach and fundamentals necessary to become a better player defensive player will be stressed. The hitting camp will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the position camp is from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Cost for the camps is $150 for each camp or $225 for both and they are open to players ages 7-18.
