Navarro Jr. Named To Northwoods League All-Star Squad

LAS VEGAS - UNLV baseball player Efren Navarro Jr. was named to the Northwoods League all-star squad, making the team as a first baseman and the sophomore will represent the Rochester Honkers in Wednesday's game.

The North Division will take on the South Division at Knute Nelson Memorial Field at 5:05 p.m. (PST) in Alexandria, Minn., and Navarro Jr. will be part of the South Division team.

Navarro Jr. has helped the Honkers to an overall record of 23-13 in the league, which has a total of 12 teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Ontario, Canada. The league is comprised of college players and Navarro was the only player from a Mountain West Conference school to be named to the all-star team.

In his first year with the Rebels this past season, Navarro Jr. hit .255 with two home runs and 12 RBI as a true freshman. The left-hander also pitched, compiling a 4-4 record with 57 strikeouts as he started seven games and appeared in 17 more out of the bullpen.
