LAS VEGAS - The Rebels (3-7) regained the playing form they were accustomed to in Friday's match versus Arkansas (7-2). UNLV outhit the Lady'Backs 46-to-44, but were unable to score victories in the individual games, thus falling in three to its Southeastern Conference opponent. Arkansas took the match with game scores of 30-25, 30-26, 30-29. UNLV is now 0-2 in the USD Invitational with one match remaining on Saturday against American University in the Jenny Craig Pavilion at 5 p.m.
The Rebels received double-digit kills figures from three players, while last night versus USD none reached the plateau. Lauren Miramontes led all Rebels with 15 kills, while Mariana Pencheva and Maria Aladjova picked up 10 apiece. Miramontes hit for a .306 clip, but it wasn't enough as the team hit for a .192 average. Melody Nua assisted on 39 kills, while Jada Walker had 15 digs.
Arkansas had two players tally kills in double-figures, Denitza Koleva (11) and Karla Crose (10). Crose was the top-hitter in the match as her 10 kills and one error in 16 total attempts was good enough for a .562 hitting percentage. Nicole Martin (23) and Caira Daugherty (14) split the setting duty as the two of them picked up 37 of the team's 38 assists. In the dig department, Ashley Miller dug out 15 attacks.
