LAS VEGAS - The UNLV softball program is teaming up with the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation and Making Strides Against Breast Caner Walk this fall. The Rebels and Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation are partnering up for the 10th Annual Champions Run For Life to be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday morning at Eller Media Stadium (west side of the campus, on the corner of Swenson and Harmon). On October 1, in Summerlin, the team will participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk for the third-straight year.
The Champions Run For Life is an opportunity to recognize and honor individually the brave children who fight life threatening illnesses daily. Each registered child will have the opportunity to take a victory lap around the Eller Media Stadium infield with the organization's mascot and others of their choice. It is truly a day of positive recognition and a show of love and triumph. There will be other activities for the children to participate in with various setups in the outfield.
The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation's mission is to help families who have had a child diagnosed with a life threatening or critical illness such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, sickle cell anemia and other immunological diseases. The Foundation provides comfort and support while empowering and educating families and support staff. Working side-by-side with the patient's medical team the Foundation provides social emotional, educational and psychological support services to families of ALL children who are diagnosed with a life threatening or critical illness.

Making Strides is a noncompetitive walk supporting the American Cancer Society's unique mission to fight cancer on four fronts: research, education, advocacy, and patient services. As the nation's largest nongovernmental breast cancer research supporter, the American Cancer Society has invested more than $246 million since 1972 to give those touched by breast cancer more reasons for hope. When you get involved in Making Strides, you help ensure progress against breast cancer continues and more lives are saved.
