LAS VEGAS - UNLV sophomore Elena Gantcheva, ranked 24th nationally, will face 38th-ranked Anna Lubinsky of Texas A&M in Sunday's top-flight singles final at the Women's Tennis Fall Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
In Saturday's semifinal, Gantcheva got by 43d-ranked Sara Foster of Texas A&M 6-3, 6-0. Lubinsky downed teammate Anna Blagodorova 6-4, 6-4 to advance.
Also winning for the Lady Rebels was Sharon Marin, who downed Nicki Mechem of Texas A&M 6-2, 6-2 to advance to Sunday's championship of Flight Two. UNLV's Linda Tempelfelde got by Tulsa's Tiffany Smith 6-4, 7-5 to move into the Flight Four final.
"We got some outstanding results today and are set up to challenge for three championships on Sunday," UNLV head coach Kevin Cory said. "We are looking forward to a strong final day."
The doubles competition ended Saturday. Singles finals start at 10 a.m.
